PLANO CHAPEL HOLINESS CHURCH
in Bowling Green, KY

AFRICA
I am truly blessed to be sent of God, backed by a wonderful church , pastor and family.
I will never truly be able to comprehend how God chose me for this work!
I am finally here in Africa, What an experience God has granted this Preacher.
We arrived in Niarobi on time to find that my luggage was not here.
Hopefully tomorrow it will be at the airport before we leave town for the convention.
As we arrived we were greeted by Bro. Charles Aswata Ondiga, our friend and host
of the Convention of the Church of God in Africa.
He, along with Brother Joseph and Brother Abel saw us to the YMCA Motel
in Niarobi where we would spend the night before leaving for the convention in
the morning. The city here is one of 3 million people and the poverty is absolutely
indescribable. Trades lined up and down the little dirt lanes with deeps ruts, rocks
much like the farm roads back home. Old cars and trucks absolutely flying up and down
in every direction with streets filled with people walking. Only God knows how they keep
from being ran down. I took pictures of cows going up and down the city streets, Goats
feeding in the garbage piles alongside the road for their food. All the people going in every
direction, It was unforgetable. The next day we returned to the airport for our luggage and
keyboard which had been lost and boarded a bus for an 8 hour ride up into the hills to the
convention. The bus was packed from front to back with barely room to sit.
We made many stops, the driver at times, speeding down the Mountains at what had to be 70 or
80 m.p.h. Through pot holes, around steep mountain curves, all the while meeting traffic,
dodging people and livestock in the roads. It was truly a wild ride! I asked Bro. Charles how
many bus accidents there were and he replyed,” Many!” We finally arrived at the small town
late at night to get into our Matatu (truck) to be carried to a house in the country which had
been rented and remodeled just for the visitors from England and America. A wonderful
Christian family greeted us and welcomed us inside. The services that followed in the next days
and nights were truly wonderful. There was such a hunger for God’s word. People had
traveled from, as they say in Kenya (far). Each day there would be a morning service folowed
by and a crusade in the afternoon at one of the nearby small towns. There was much whorship
and praise in all the services, with the people and the excitment growing each day. Souls were
saved in many of the services, many coming forward for healing and special needs. By the last
night of the convention there were nearly as many on the outside as the inside of the large
School where meetings were being held. Bro. Ondiga estimated over 1,000. We were so blessed
to travel with Bro. Fitzroy Mcfarland from England and Bro. Andrew his travel companion for this
trip. The people of Kenya are special. Their love for God and his people and it truly was a great
priviledge to be able to spend time with them and to see God move in such a powerful and
wonderful way. Thanks to all who prayed and gave to this mission endeavor! May God Bless
Each One 100 Fold!
